Renfrew and Hiker are both life long lovers of the outdoors including hiking, camping, backpacking, exploring ecosystems, learning, and teaching.  Coincidentally each went on their first backpacking trip at the age of twelve and fell in love with it, but didn't meet and team up until much later in life.   Both developed an interest in the natural sciences from hiking, camping, trout fishing, and gardening from childhood and these interests continue to fill their free time today.  Renfrew is a career public school teacher in California (35+ years) with a couple of excursion years in overseas schools.  They have a Bachelor's in Ecosystems Analysis, and Masters in Education from UCLA, credentials in all Life Science, Geoscience, Introductory Geography, and Introductory Mathematics with the state of California.  They also hold a Certificate in Horticulture from UCLA Extension.  Hiker's education is less formal in the sciences being largely self-taught through personal interest and curious investigation.  She is also a gardener, museum goer, and amateur photographer.
